Publication Roadmap
The immediate goal is a live, useful Steinmetz research archive, not a finished encyclopedia. A rigorous public resource can go live while clearly marking which layers are source-verified, candidate, interpretive, or still pending.
The full requirement map is tracked in the Project Tracker and in the repo-level MASTER_PROJECT_TRACKER.md.
The final expert finishing standard is tracked in World-Class Completion Criteria, and the generated source-by-source readiness report is published at Completion Audit.
The scholarly operating layer now has public controls for Citation And Data Export, Editorial Policy, Canonical Review Workflow, Canonical Verification Workbench, Equation Verification Queue, Figure Verification Queue, Patent Verification Queue, Claim Attribution Ledger, Notation Ledger, Diagram Provenance Ledger, Schema Reference, Expert Review Packets, Release Levels, Accessibility Audit, Edition Comparison Layer, and Patent To Theory Bridge.
The future multi-collection design is tracked separately in Future Codex Architecture. That future scope is intentionally downstream of finishing the Steinmetz foundation.
Live-Ready Core
Section titled “Live-Ready Core”The archive is live-ready when these conditions are met:
- The source library is visible and honest about processing state.
- The first book has original scan crops, source overview, lecture map, and at least one deep lecture page.
- The AC source has symbolic method, impedance, reactance, admittance, power-factor, and original Chapter V figure entry points.
- The transient source has original figure anchors for starting current, condenser charge, oscillation, and decrement.
- The transient source has permanent/transient term, oscillation, damping, surge, and distributed-line entry points.
- The glossary explains obsolete terms such as condensive reactance and wattless component.
- Interpretive pages are clearly separated from historical and mathematical claims.
- GitHub Pages deploys automatically from
main.
Next Completion Blocks
Section titled “Next Completion Blocks”| Block | Purpose | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Source verification pass | Scan-check the top equations, figures, and hidden gems. | Started |
| Equation canon | Promote the first 12 canonical equations with original and modern notation. | Started |
| Diagram extraction | Extract AC and transient diagrams from scans, then pair them with source-keyed modern redraws. | Started: original crops and first redraw sheets are public |
| Glossary expansion | Turn historical terms into linked pages. | Started |
| Interactive tools | Turn key equation families into visual aids without replacing source pages. | Started: wave, AC waveform/harmonics, impedance, phasor/symbolic form, power factor, hysteresis loss, transient RLC response, and lightning/surge traveling waves are public |
| Multi-author future scope | Prepare architecture for Tesla, Dollard, Russell, and others without merging claims. | Public architecture note added; Steinmetz remains first priority |
| Expanded Steinmetz bibliography | Track the Wikipedia works list as an acquisition and processing queue. | Started: bibliography intake manifest and public page added |
| Patent register | Seed patent examples, then complete the full 200-plus authority pass. | Started: selected examples seeded; complete catalog pending |
| World-class completion audit | Measure custody, source-text coverage, workbench coverage, concepts, equations, diagrams, glossary, crops, and curated pages source by source. | Started: generated completion audit and expert finishing criteria are public |
| Scholarly apparatus | Add citation exports, critical-edition rules, canonical review workflow, notation errata, diagram provenance, and contributor governance. | Started: citation/data exports, editorial policy, canonical review workflow, canonical verification workbench, notation ledger, diagram provenance ledger, schema reference, expert review packets, release levels, accessibility audit, edition queue, patent bridge, and GitHub review templates are public |
| Canonical verification workbench | Turn priority equations, figures, and patents into concrete source-review cards. | Started: equation OCR snippets, figure crop review cards, patent authority tasks, and public queue pages are generated |
| Claim attribution ledger | Keep source facts, OCR candidates, modern translations, diagrams, patents, and interpretation layers separated. | Started: a generated 3,380-record claim ledger and public source-isolation page are live |
| Public research exports | Publish stable machine-readable data without hiding review state. | Started: data manifest, JSON exports, CSL JSON, BibTeX, and CITATION.cff are generated |
Rule For Speed
Section titled “Rule For Speed”Move quickly by publishing labeled layers, not by lowering standards. Candidate pages are allowed. Unlabeled certainty is not.
