Steinmetz vs Modern Radiation

Radiation is energy in transit. Heat is produced when radiation is intercepted and absorbed.

Electromagnetic radiation carries energy through fields. Thermal radiation is radiation associated with temperature and absorption/emission processes.

Mostly. Steinmetz’s older language is still conceptually sharp because it refuses to collapse propagation and absorption into a single vague word.

Interpretive only: this passage supports field-process thinking, but it should not be overstated as proof of any later ether model.
